Fighting games are, once again, all of the rage now days. SNK isn’t one to just stand by and let the resurgence pass them by; they want to make sure that they are included in the new tournament scene too. Last week, at the Tokyo Game Show, SNK revealed that is was bringing its classic King of Fighters franchise into the new generation. King of Fighters XIV is coming in 2016.
Very little information about the actual game was revealed, a but a trailer was shown during Sony’s press conference that gave a glimpse of what the new era of the franchise will entail. The visual style is changing drastically from the last outing, going in the direction of 3D models fighting on a 2D plane rather than using hand-drawn sprites. Being a part of Sony’s press conference, it is obvious that the game is headed to the PS4. It is very possible that the game could be released on other platforms as well.
The game will be hitting Japan on January 21, 2016, so cross your fingers that the conversion process doesn’t take too long and we can get our hands on it here in the States by next Spring.
