There will be a new Battlefield release in 2016

I'm sure this is not much surprise to anyone, but EA has confirmed that there will be a new Battlefield title in 2016. Whether or not it will be Battlefield 5 or another game, like this year's Battlefield: Hardline, is yet to be known.

EA said "what we've said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles," with this year being focused on Star Wars: Battlefront. DICE will certainly be busy for a while, with Battlefront releasing in November and work on Mirror's Edge: Catalyst beginning soon as well. After the Battlefield 4 release debacle, hopefully they allow the developer time to make the game as well-oiled as possible before it releases.
