Announce by Blizzard in a blog post last week, the Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft digital card game is getting a major expansion in August. The Grand Tournament, as it is called, will add 132 new cards, the ability to choose a card pack type for Arena awards, and a new minion ability, Inspire. The Inspire ability triggers whenever you use your hero power, and as it's been shown in the cards revealed thus far can trigger a number of outcomes from dealing damage, increasing attack power, adding divine shields, and more. I'm especially excited about the ability to choose a pack type for the Arena reward, as I got all I wanted from Goblins and Gnomes packs but was still stuck opening up new ones every time I made a run in the Arena. From launch, The Grand Tournament packs will be available but you can also choose Goblins and Gnomes or standard packs.
There is also a pre-purchase bonus available in the in-game shop right now until launch, where you can score 50 packs of The Grand Tournament cards and a special cardback for $49.99. I expect on release the packs will sell the same as the other types and currently that $49.99 would only net you 40 packs so that's as good a deal as you'll get. More details are on the official site.
