Nintendo TVii, one of the key features touted with the launch of the Wii U, is coming to an end in a few, short weeks. Nintendo made the announcement in a Miiverse posting this past weekend and announced the feature is going offline on August 11. All of the TVii features are going to be removed from the Wii U system menu via an upcoming system update.
The official post read as follows:
"After almost 3 years of finding, watching and engaging with Nintendo TVii, we will be ending the service on August 11, 2015 at 3:00pm PT. At the same time, we will be closing the Nintendo TVii Miiverse community."
Let’s be honest, this feature never really took hold the way that Nintendo had hoped. It was an interesting concept, but ultimately got drowned out by other multimedia applications on the system such as Hulu and Netflix.
