The breakup between Hideo Kojima and Konami's been kinda messy and Konami's taking another step. Kojima Productions's company name and logo has long been on the covers of the Metal Gear games, but Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be omitting them this time.
It seems kind of silly given that his company did produce the game and not just Konami. They are still working to finish Metal Gear Solid V and word is they are still in contract with Konami until December. But, it seems Konami's hell bent on distancing themselves from their long time partners and have even said they will continue to make Metal Gear games without Kojima.
September 1 is the release date for Metal Gear Solid V on consoles with the PC release coming a few weeks later.
