SteelSeries has had a quiet, but solid, E3 2015 by launching a couple of new products in their ever-expanding product line. Today, we received information on their newest product, the Stratus XL controller designed specifically for Windows and Android devices, though it will also work with your PC as expected.
Ehtisham Rabbani, SteelSeries CEO, spent a little time talking about the Stratus Controller and what it means to SteelSeries.
"When SteelSeries introduced the first Stratus Controller we believed that the gaming ecosystem was on the cusp of changing and that gaming was becoming less restrictive to players who wanted to game on their mobile devices. Two years later we see this evolution happening across multiple platforms and devices. The new controller creates an easy-to-use experience and allows that multiscreen experience to really happen."
The controller is sticking with what has become a very familiar layout, rivaling that of the Xbox One and PS4 controllers. This isn't a bad thing at all, and I like to see this as the general layout that most companies have accepted to use. The controller itself will utilize two AA batteries and will provide up to 40 hours of gameplay per pair.
Expected retail price for the Stratus XL wlil be $59.99 and will be available in July.
