A week from Friday. It's so close I can almost touch it! Splatoon is almost here and I have been anxiously awaiting this game since it was announced at E3 last year. No joke, as soon as I saw this video, I went out and bought a Wii U. Forget Mario Kart, forget Bayonetta, forget Super Smash Brothers, once I saw Splatoon I said, "I need this game". Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart, Smash and Bayonetta are fantastic games, in fact Bayonetta was my game of the year but none of those games made me want to go out and buy a Wii U. It wasn't till I already had the Wii U that I discovered how amazing these games were.
Anyways, Splatoon comes out next week and I figured I would share this video with you because if you haven't seen any of this game before, maybe this would get you interested in it. The video is in Japanese but I assume this is from the Japanese Nintendo Youtube channel because it links back to the official American Nintendo channel.
In the video, we can see the Splat Roller in action and in all of its 60FPS glory. The one thing that instantly attracted me to this game was the COLOR! Yes, color! Has the videogame industry forgotten what this is? Everything that is released these days has to be dark and gloomy using browns and greys. It's nice to finally see something different for once.
I haven't played the game yet but those who participated in the test fire beta have said how OP the Splat Roller is. It can cover a large area of the arena in a mere seconds and appears to be an instant kill if you hit an enemy.
If there is one thing that I have loved about Nintendo over the years, is their ability to give us those new games that are a nice change of pace from everything else that is released.
