A good bit more information has been leaked about the newest annual installment in the Call of Duty franchise. A series of screenshots with the information was posted on Reddit, and it's actually pretty interesting. I'll sum it up below:
- A new, momentum based movement system, calling for controlled thrusts, slides, and mantling, but while maintaining full control of your weapon at all times
- Maps are designed with this movement in mind
- A new Specialist Character progression allows players to level up character capabilities, as well as the weapon XP and overall XP we already have.
- Four player co-op campaign, and the campaign is designed with co-op in mind
- Campaign characters now completely customizable, from weapons to outfits and abilities
- "Arena Style" gameplay meant to allow players to approach situations with different tactics
- Zombies is a "full game experience with it's own distinct storyline, right out of the box." Maybe this means like the DLC we've had before, except it comes at launch?
- Full XP based progression system for Zombies
It sounds pretty good to me. I really like the idea of bringing co-op to the campaign and doing it right. Co-op campaigns in games like this can get really crazy and really fun. I'm a little disappointed with the new movement system they mentioned; I want people to get their Titanfall out of my Call of Duty. That stuff is all fine and good, but it's not why I play Call of Duty, personally.
Either way, Black Ops 3 is sure to follow tradition and provide good, mindless multiplayer fun.
