Nintendo announced well over a year ago that the Wii U Virtual Console would eventually play host to Nintendo 64 and DS games. Fans have been understandably impatient for this to happen, considering the Wii had N64 games from day one. Well, the Wii U has finally caught up. You can now buy Super Mario 64 and Yoshi's Island DS for your Wii U. N64 games will range from $9.99 to $11.99, and if you already own one of the few N64 titles on the Wii VC, you can upgrade to the Wii U version for $2. DS games will cost a little less at $6.99 to $9.99
Most surprising is that Donkey Kong 64 will be on the Wii U VC before too long. Nintendo hasn't mentioned that game in over a decade; most fans had given up hope it would ever see a digital release. While it has its fair share of fetch quests, I always enjoyed DK64; I kind of wish Retro Studios had made a sequel to DK64 instead of two stupidly hard 2D platfotmers. I'm not sure why it took Nintendo this long to re-release DK64 considering they held all the rights, but maybe it just took that long for the bad blood between them and Rare to pass?
