Looks like Zen Studios is still firmly in the Star Wars business. This newest pinball table, Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels (say "Star Wars" again, I dare you, I double dare you) adds to the already robust library of Star Wars tables in the Zen Studios library.
The Star Wars Rebels table is based on none other than the animated TV show, Star Wars Rebels. And, as the other Star Wars tables have enjoyed doing, this one is a deconstruction of pinball. Sure, it has the requisite components of what makes a pinball table a pinball table—such as flippers, a plunger, and a few bumpers—but, other than that, it pushes out the boundaries of what a table looks like.
If these screenshots are any indication (which, they are) then there's going to be a lot of swordplay antics going on at the top of the table. TIE fighters and the Ghost ship make prominent appearances, too.
The Star Wars Rebels table comes to Pinball FX2, Zen Pinball 2, and Star Wars Pinball on console, PC, and mobile on the week of April 27.
Return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away with Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels
Zen Studios reveals a pinball table based on Disney XD's animated hit TV series Star Wars Rebels
San Francisco, CA - March 30, 2015 - Zen Studios, a maker of popular digital games including Pinball FX2 and Zen Pinball, has revealed the latest pinball table, Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels, based on the critically acclaimed animated TV show, Star Wars Rebels. The table will be available across Zen's pinball platforms, including Pinball FX2, Zen Pinball 2, and Star Wars Pinball, on console, PC, and mobile on the week of April 27, 2015.
Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels will take players on a journey to a galaxy far, far away, teaming them up with the crew of the starship Ghost, including Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Zeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla and the grumpy astromech Droid Chopper as they join forces to take on the evil Empire. The table will feature fully-animated starships including the Ghost and TIE fighters, a flaming engine thruster spindisk, Chopper's own mini playfield, and seven exciting missions inspired by the show.
The Star Wars Pinball: Star Wars Rebels pinball table joins ten existing Star Wars Pinball tables on Zen's pinball platforms, and marks the latest collaboration in the ongoing licensing relationship between Zen Studios and Lucasfilm.
Players have been anxious to see if Zen Studios and Lucasfilm would continue creating new Star Wars pinball tables. I am happy to confirm that our teams are working together to do just that, said Mel Kirk, VP of Publishing at Zen Studios. Star Wars Rebels is set during a time period never explored in the films between Episode III and Episode IV lies a 20 year stretch of Star Wars history. We're delighted to be able to bring our own blend of pinball magic to this new phase of the Star Wars universe.
