Americans won't be getting Xenoblade Chronicles 3D until April 10th, but the fine folks at Nintendo World Report have a little something to whet our appetite. They've done a side-by-side comparison of the game's opening, showing the graphics on the New 3DS vs. the Wii version shot by shot.
On 3DS the textures take a noticeable hit in resolution, with characters and backgrounds looking just a bit muddier. That said there appears to be no serious drop in framerate or polycount, and it's impressive that Monster Games was able to pull off such a close graphical fidelity considering the differences between 3DS and Wii architecture.
3DS overall is still just a bit weaker than the aging Wii, but it's not exactly a good comparison considering the differing strengths and weaknesses of both platforms, and how the 3DS was built for different challenges. In any case, I'm quite looking forward to playing Xenoblade Chronicles on the go, and in 3D, this April.
