It appears as if 2016 will bring the release of more than just the annual Assassin’s Creed game, but also the film adaptation of the series as well. Fox announced that the movie, which was announced way back in 2011, will hit theaters on December 21, 2016. The project is being spearheaded by actor Michael Fassbender, who is both producing and starring in the movie.
Fassbender is expected to play the role of the series current-day star Desmond Miles, although it will be diving into his various ancestors just as the games have done. Who knows which ancestors we will see as the franchise has spread out across many different eras during its lifetime. The Assassin’s Creed franchise is certainly a great choice for a film adaptation, I just hope that it turns out a lot better than most game-based movies end up being.
