Things have been quiet out of the Capcom camp regarding the Dragon’s Dogma franchise for most of the three years since its release. Personally, I loved the game and hoped that it was the start of a new series for the struggling Japanese developer. Well, it appears as though my wishes may be coming to fruition as trademarks have been filed for “Dragon’s Dogma Online” in Japan, Europe and the United States.
I have mixed feelings about the game potentially shifting to an online MMO of sorts. As long as they keep the base mechanics of the experience the same, it should fare pretty well. Battling some of the more epic boss battles from the game with your friends could be a ton of fun; I just hope that they don’t spend too much time pushing the traditionally MMO-style experience of constant gathering and questing. The game’s biggest strength was its combat and as long as they keep the focus on that, I will definitely be joining the next foray.
