Hip hip hooray! 2K and Turtle Rock Studios have announced that the Evolve Big Alpha playtest will be extended until Tuesday at noon PST (3PM EST and 8PM UTC).
There was a major hitch in the Big Alpha for PS4 players as the latest 2.0 firmware update seemed to wreck havoc all weekend. The developers believe they have ironed out the majority of these wrinkles and are extending the test for all platforms. This is, selfishly, great news seeing as I only managed to get an hour on the game the entire weekend. I fit 3 games into that time but was disconnected from all 3 (on PC) after long wait times. It's a free Alpha test so I can't complain, and experiencing issues now should help prevent them from popping up at the game's full release on February 10, 2015.
More info can be found at the Evolve website and it's worth noting that if you're on PC and already have XCOM: Enemy Unknown in your Steam library you get automatic access to the Big Alpha, no code necessary. Just head on over to the Evolve page on Steam to download and get hunting (or evolving). If you don't already have XCOM, I highly recommended it. Check out our review from 2012 (spoiler: it gets a deserved 9.5). XCOM:Enemy Unknown can be purchased from Steam for $29.99.
