The latest Assassin's Creed Unity video introduces the cast that will see players through the French Revolution.
Dan Jeannotte, who had various speaking roles in both Assassin's Creed III and IV, plays the main character, Arno Victor Dorian. In Jeannotte's own words, Arno is a "young punk." But then, through Arno's association with the Brotherhood, he becomes part of a larger fight: the French Revolution.
Catherine Berube plays Elise de la Serre. Elise and Arno are troublemakers in their youth, and as they get older, their relationship blossoms into a romantic one. Adhering to her own agenda, however, Elise is willing to do anything to avenge her father's death.
Alex Ivanovici plays the Marquis de Sade. De Sade is a champion of freedom, yet unhindered by morality. Arno understands that de Sade is mad on the outside but savvy in all his dealings.
Brent Skagford is Napoleon Bonaparte. Bonaparte is very intelligent and uses a command of the language to get what he wants. Arno feels that Napoleon is one of the few people that actually knows what's going on.
Bruce Dinsmore is Maximilien de Robespierre. Robespierre is bit of a pedant. A bit of a showoff. A bit pretentious. Arno is aware of what Robespierre is capable of—and Robespierre is a madman leading France into ruin.
This is not an all-star cast, but it's a cast that's clearheaded about their characters, and clearly in love with their roles. And from the few cutscenes I'd seen during my hands-on preview, the acting is understated and intense.
Assassin's Creed Unity launches November 11 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. An Xbox One Assassin's Creed Unity bundle hits store shelves earlier on November 2.
