At last, the final piece of the Minecraft / console puzzle is falling into place. Michael brought news of the European release the other day, but now Sony has clarified that the Vita version of Minecraft will launch in the U.S. next week as well. It will be available as a digital exclusive for a month before hitting retail in boxed form on November 11.
The PS3 and Vita versions of the game are compatibility, with saves being easily transferred between the two at will and Cross-Buy being enabled for these two versions. If you want to make the jump to the PS4 version, you will still need to pay the $4.99 upgrade fee.
I have to admit, I never thought that this day would come. Especially after the acquisition of Mojang by Microsoft, I figured that the Vita port of the game would end up becoming vaporware. I am very happy to be wrong though and cannot wait to get my hands on the Vita version of the game.
