The team at Blizzard behind Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft went live earlier this week with two card balancing updates to the popular digital card game. The first was to raise by 1 Mana the cost of Leeroy Jenkins to 5. The other was to both raise the cost of the Hunter class card, Starving Buzzard, to 5 (from 2) and raise its Attack and Health to 3 and 2 (from 2/1).
As detailed in this post on the Battle.net Hearthstone forums, the reasons behind the changes were to prohibit Leeroy Jenkins combos where 20+ damage could be leveled in a single turn from a clear board, and to balance the advantage the Starving Buzzard card draws the Hunter class was benefiting from at such a low cost. Now opponents will have an opportunity to counter before they are overrun. The post also notes that these will be the final card changes to the game until Hearthstone World Championships at BlizzCon in November.
While this balancing will have an obvious effect on the Hunter class, many Rogue decks which relied on Leeroy Jenkins will also be taking a hit.
