While I was kind of disappointed when I wasn't able to play the new Super Smash Bros. on the road this summer, I'd be fine with a delay if it was still going to be released this year. While the Wii U version still has a release window of this holiday season, the 3DS version now has a finite release date. You'll be able to take on all challengers, new and returning, on October 3rd at midnight.
In addition to this announcement, a new character was recently revealed as Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles will join the fight. Sadly I've never played any of the games in the Xenoblade franchise, but I'm liking what I'm seeing in Shulk's reveal trailer. I'm never one to complain about another fighter who wields a sword, and it appears that Shulk's can change elements that have different effects, such as better jumping or speed. I definitely plan to take him for a spin come October.
