Yep, you read that correctly. The blue bomber's final NES outing finally comes to the Virtual Console on a Wii system...well, the Wii U anyway. For those who may recall, we only got up through Mega Man 5 on the Wii's Virtual Console before they stopped putting out games there, so this is the first time that a Wii system gets Mega Man 6. While not my favorite of the series (I mean seriously, how many people really thought that Mr. X and Dr. Wily were two different people when they first played), it's still a pretty solid entry in the series.
While Mega Man 6 wasn't the most difficult game in the series, Life Force covers the difficult NES game aspect this week. While it's been on the 3DS for most of the year, you can now check out this Gradius spin-off on the Wii U. I'll be honest, as much as I love the NES, Gradius and Life Force have both given me issues. Not sure why, maybe it's just me and shmups don't get along.
Speaking of firsts, Disney Infinity is now available to download for free on the Wii U's eShop. Sounds interesting...but you still need a figure and base to play. I don't know much about Disney Infinity but if it's anything like Skylanders, I'd assume that if you already own a figure and base from another version (ie. if you own the game for the 3DS), then you can download the Wii U version for free and just use your existing base and figure(s).
These games and more are now available on the 3DS and Wii U's Virtual Console. Check out the official press release for info including some upcoming VC releases such as...Donkey Kong...Jr...Math. Um...okay. Not my first choice of VC release. Maybe take the Math part out and I'd possibly pick it up.
