After his passing earlier this week, fans of Robin Williams set out to find ways to memorialize the great actor and comedian. Knowing that Williams was a big fan of World of Warcraft, fans petitioned to have him memorialized in the popular MMO, a request that was met with approval from the game's developer Blizzard. Now fans are requesting he be memorialized in another game franchise he enjoyed, The Legend of Zelda. Williams did a commercial for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D before its release, and his daughter is named after the titular princess. A petition has been started to have an NPC named after Williams in the next Zelda game, probably Zelda Wii U. You can check it out (and sign) here.
It is heartwarming to see how passionate Williams' fans are, and I hope Nintendo listens the same way Blizzard did. It will likely be awhile before we will know if this petition has any effect, but the next Zelda title released should be Zelda Wii U sometime next year.
