Earlier today Sam Raimi and Neil Druckman took the Screen Gems stage at Comic-Con to discuss the upcoming film adaptation of The Last of Us. While they didn't reveal much, they did drop one major piece of news: that they are in talks to have Maisie Williams, otherwise known as Game of Thrones' Arya Starnk, play Ellie in the film. They haven't come to an agreement yet, but Maisie did tweet that she would not turn the role down.
I always felt that The Last of Us didn't need to be a game to work, so I wasn't surprised when the film adaptation was announced. Given its competition it is likely that it will be the best video game movie adaptation ever made. I think Maisie is a great match for Ellie, and hopefully they can find someone equally good to play Joel.
