After the prize pool for Dota 2's The International passed the $6 million mark Valve quickly created more stretch goals that went all the way to $10 million. While some may have seen $10 million as an unattainable goal fans of the popular free-to-play MOBA saw it as a challenge. Now, only about a month later, that challenge has been completed and the prize pool for The International 4 has surpassed $10 million, currently sitting at $10,017,292. As of typing Valve has not announced any more stretch goals, but I feel like we will be hearing something in the next week.
I was one of the fans that didn't believe the prize pool could reach $10 million, but I guess now I have been proved wrong. With less than a month until the tournament I imagine Valve will add some small stretch goals and prizes for the game's dedicated fanbase. The International 4 starts on July 18th and will feature the best Dota 2 teams in the entire world all battling for their share of that $10 mil.
