CRT TVs are not something you would expect to see at a video game tournament in 2014, but they have made their return alongside Super Smash Bros. Melee, a game that hasn't made an appearance on the MLG circuit since 2006. Thanks to a healthy dose of hype provided by last years EVO competitive Melee has returned to the prominence and MLG this weekend with MLG Anaheim. The tournament, which will being going all weekend, will feature some of the world's top players including Mango, PPMD, Armada, Mew2King, and HungryBox. As of typing the tournament has just started, so check the stream out here, then select Melee from the sidebar.
Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of my favorite competitive games of all time and I am so happy to see it back on so many professional circuits. I would love to see Smash 4 get this same level of respect on the pro scene, but honestly I'd be fine with watching Melee forever as long as the pros keep it interesting.
