The first time I watched the trailer for The Forest I knew the game had potential. The trailer started off with peaceful calm music but quickly turned into a nightmare from a horror game. You play a lone plan crash survivor, navigating your way through a forest. But this is no Cast Away. All Tom Hanks had to worry about was losing his volleyball friend Wilson, but in The Forest, you need to worry about cannibalistic mutants eating your face off. No big deal, right?
The game play is said to have some similarities to Minecraft because you have to explore, collect materials and build things the only time it's safe to – during the day.
The game is still very early in development, but things are looking up. The graphics looks stunning and the game play looks horrifying and creepy. I feel like this game would be a good candidate for games to play on the Oculus Rift someday. You can pick it up as an early access game here for 14.99.
