Square-Enix revealed the release date for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix yesterday with a new trailer that included a teaser for the hotly anticipated sequel Kingdom Hearts III. However it is slightly bittersweet, since that teaser may be the last bit of Kingdom Hearts III fans see for awhile. In an interview with Famitsu longtime company producer Shinji Hashimoto explained that Kingdom Hearts III, as well as Final Fantasy XV, will not be making appearances at E3 2014. He explained that development for both games is going well, but also told them that Square has decided the time is not right, and will wait for a better opportunity to reveal more about the games.
It has been a long time since I have gotten truly excited about a Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy game that wasn't a remake. Both series have been in a weird place for quite a few years now, and I have fallen out of love with them as the quality of their entries have been all over the place. I'm hoping that one of these games can pull me back into these series I once loved, but I don't want to get too excited just yet.
