Approximately one billion online games (50 of which belong to EA) will go away forever when Gamespy shuts down its servers in two weeks. Speaking of EA, two EA executives just cashed out $1.5 million worth of EA stock—since the company just hit a five-year high. And while The Sims series typically rates a T for Teen from the ESRB, Russia is making The Sims 4 an 18+ title because in PutinLand, same-sex relationships equals "propaganda."
What are you playing this weekend?

This weekend will be spent mostly playing through Vertical Drop Heroes and Full Bore. Vertical Drop Heroes is pretty good so far, though it has an embargo for another week or so, so I can't say too much. As for Full Bore, it's not bad but it takes some getting used to as it's a different style of puzzle game that has you wandering around gathering gems. Sometimes the gems are easily found, others take a bit of planning so you don't have to restart an area just because you pushed a block too far. It's not too bad.

Madness. First the gut punch that was the ending of The Last of Us, and now I'm enjoying an Assassin's Creed game. Absolute madness. I don't quite know if the Jackdaw eclipses the Normandy, Randy, but Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is first AC game I've really enjoyed since AC: Brotherhood. I'll probably get to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist this week. It's time to reacquaint myself with Sam Fisher, voiced by Mike Ironside or not. As much as I tell myself that I'm sick of stealth-based games, I just can't quit them.

Assuming I have finished cleaning up the streets of Seattle from all of the DUP scum in inFAMOUS: Second Son, I might dive into either Child of Light or Contrast this week. Then again, inFAMOUS games always require a second playthrough in order to relieve stress as a bad guy.

I'm in a a flat spin of mid to late 2000s gaming right now (which is back when I had a dual-income-no-kids household and could afford buying and shelving games). So, in 15-minute increments, I could be replaying story lines from Marcus Fenix or Altair, Niko Bellic or '07 Commander Shepard. It usually only takes a few minutes, then I'm satisfied with re-shaking their hands and moving on again. My brain might be trying to self-impose a gaming drought in anticipation of upcoming monsters like Destiny, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Order: 1886, and Watch Dogs.

I just wrapped up the preview for Always Sometimes Monsters, and I've still got a hankerin' for some good story-driven gameplay. Kentucky Route Zero is supposed to be a heavy-hitter on the indie scene right now, so I'll finally be diving into that. Or maybe I'll take a break from the indie scene and start getting my Super Smash Bros. game up to par for the upcoming 3DS release. I've been away for a long time, but Roy's still my boy.
