SMITE is getting one of if not its biggest update ever as a new god, game mode, new league system, god skins and other updates are coming this week.
First up we have Osiris, the broken god of the afterlife. Here is a run down of his abilities.
Also included in the patch is a brand new game mode called Siege. Siege is a two lane, 5 v 5 game mode where you have to kill minions and other players to earn points. When your team earns 100 points a siege minions will spawn to help push the lane and tank towers. When a siege minions is on the field, friendly players can use the portal at their base to teleport to a siege minion. The map will also have a "Silver Fury" located in the middle of the map that spawns at 5 minutes. Destroying the Silver Fury will automatically spawn a new siege minion for your team.
One thing of note is that the new Siege game mode is in beta at this point and the team at Hi-Rez will be looking to update the game mode in the months to come
The League system will also be getting a major overhaul in this patch as well. The new system now has five tiers, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Masters. Each tier will have five divisions except for Masters which has one. Winning games earns you Tribute Points. Earning 100 points puts you up a division. Dropping to 0 drops you down. The Leagues will work in year long seasons with rounds lasting about 2 months. This new system was put into place to try and provide the highest level of competitive play possible unlike the old system which wasn't that great.
For those who love skins, the Blind Vengeance Nemesis skin is released this week along side Golden Ullr.
Finally the new free god rotation is Scylla, Hades, Hercules, Xbalanque, and Kali.
If there were ever a time to start playing SMITE, now would be it. Hi-Rez has done an absolutely amazing job of adding a boatload of new content every few weeks for players and when you combine that with how much fun the game is, it's easy to see why it's been my favorite game that I've played for the last year.
