Yes, they really just dug up thousands of 30-year-old E.T. cartridges from Atari’s “Great Video Game Burial of 1983." Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher really are in the new Star Wars. And Steven Spielberg really is in the pre-production stage of making a Halo TV series.
What are you playing this weekend?

This week will see me finishing up Life Goes On in preparation for my upcoming review. It's interesting as you're basically have to keep killing yourself to solve various puzzles and get to the goal. Interesting concept as to get higher ranks you have to clear the stage fast and with a minimal number of sacrifices. After that I get to move onto Shadowrun Online. It's been a while since I've checked out a new MMO (I think the last one I did was The Secret World), so I'm looking forward to this. Will it be the next "WoW Killer"? Yeah, a bit of sarcasm there, though World of Warcraft's been so watered down over the years that I'm kind of hoping something does come and give it some competition.

I'm on double review duty with Starlight Inception and Child of Light. The former is an old-school space combat sim with some new ideas, from a veteran ex-Lucasarts developer who made some of my favorite old Star Wars games. The latter is a refreshing new take on the increasingly confused RPG genre with a gorgeous art style and heartwarming story. It's going to be a busy (and emotional) weekend for me.

This weekend will likely be about spreading mulch and re-staining a deck, but given that the Ohio weather isn't going to cooperate I'm going to be spending time with some new addictions from Blizzard. The first is Hearthstone which is great when you aren't stricken with connectivity issues. Thankfully these issues seem mostly tied to the iPad version of the game. I'm also going to be grinding bounties in Diablo III as I try to cap out my barbarian. Outside of those there might be a little bit of Battlefield 4 and possibly some inFAMOUS: Second Son.

Crytek is working nights and weekends to fix it, but multiplayer shooter Warface is underwater in meeting the demands of a brand new free-to-play FPS on Xbox 360. I'm heading back in everyday, but my time usually goes: (1) wait 10 minutes in a queue on the splash screen, (2) get in, then wait five more minutes as co-op teams form and break, (3) watch a 10-minute mission turn into a 20-minute slog due to freezing and lag, and then (4) have the server drop you back off at the splash screen with a "servers at capacity" message. So, in the spirit of "never say die," I'll be doing more of steps 1 through 4 listed above.

I've got a great juxtaposition of childlike whimsy and soul-crushing despair going on this weekend. I'll be wrapping up my review of the Dark Souls II PC port and picking up the full version of The Last Tinker: City of Colors. I'm loathe to leave my DS2 sorcerer behind. "HUMUNGUS the stab-mancer" and I have had some good times together. But I think all of the undead atrocities have taken a toll on my psyche, and a world of paper mache and pastels would do me some good.
