I'm not sure if this is an example of developers focusing on player-driven content and gameplay or putting the cart before the horse, Little Green Men Games has decided to implement the Steam Workshop into Starpoint Gemini 2 while it's still in Early Access. According to Danijel Mihokovic, the CTO of Little Green Men Games,
"Modding is at the heart of Starpoint Gemini 2 and we have done, and will continue to do, everything possible to open up SPG2 and allow virtually anything to be changed, tweaked and improved by the community."
Then again, maybe this is a clever way to get the community up and running while they continue to work on integrating the Oculus Rift in time for launch.
The Workshop Beta is available now with the addition of junkyards to the SPG2 world, along with some miscellaneous additions to the overall gameplay. If you want to see the full list of updates or buy into the Starpoint Gemini 2 Early Access, you should check out their Steam page. In the meantime, here's some tasty new screenshots.
