Spiders Games details Bound by Flame's role-playing combat system in this recent video. Your bipolar, demon-possessed character advances three combat styles: fighter, ranger, and pyromancer. The fighter tree contains hand-to-hand martial skills, the ranger tree contains bow-and-arrow attacks, and the pyromancer tree lets you huck fireballs or set your weapon on fire. A bunch of customizations also change up the damage component—and physical appearance—of your blades; from the blade itself, to the hilt, to the pommel.
The bestiary lands halfway between eastern European fantasy and horror. It'll be interesting if your companions serve a greater purpose than as complements to your weapon sets. Those details may emerge in a later video. For now, here's what it looks like when you chop/shoot/burn stuff up.
Bound by Flame launches May 9 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
