It has been awhile since we last saw a DLC licensing update from Harmonix on Rock Band (Nov 2013!), but yesterday was the first quarterly update in 2014. After originally posting that all licenses had been secured that were expiring, Harmonix had to make an update and notate that two significant licenses were indeed going away.
The first is that Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” will be leaving the Rock Band store permanently on April 30th. As Harmonix points out, it is only $1 and there is a good chance you already own it, which would not impact you. However, if you have thought about pulling the trigger and haven’t yet, now is the time. The second is a bit bigger new. Apparently, the 20 free track offer from purchasing Rock Band 2 has expired and the redemption page is no longer live. So if you already own it, you are all set, but if you plan to buy RB2 in the future, it will be a little lighter in content than when it was originally released.
According to Harmonix, we shouldn’t see a new update (unless some urgent matter from a studio pops up) until approximately three months from now.
