Yesterday at their financial results meeting Nintendo made a number of gaming related announcements for the upcoming year. Two of the biggest strictly gaming related announcements were new release info for Mario Kart 8, and big news for the Wii U Virtual Console. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata announced that Mario Kart 8, one of Nintendo's biggest upcoming Wii U releases, will come out some time during the month of May. An exact day was not given, but it does give Wii U owners something to look forward to in the middle of the year.
Nintendo also asurprised fans with the news that they would be adding DS games to the Wii U Virtual Console library. I personally would have expected a Nintendo 64 or GameBoy Advance Virtual Console announcement ahead of the DS, but it is good news all the same given the wealth of awesome games available for that system.
