Nearly a year after its announcement Nintendo has finally revealed the release date for Yoshi's New Island, and it's sooner than I expected. You will be able to get your hands on this hotly anticipated sequel on March 14th in America and Europe, both at retail and digitally. There hasn't been an entry in the Yoshi's Island series since Yoshi's Island DS in 2006. Yoshi's New Island is being produced by the creative director of the SNES Yoshi's Island, Takashi Tezuka and will carry on the series unique platforming gameplay.
I played and beat Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for the first time two years ago and instantly fell in love with everything about that game. When I first saw the trailer for Yoshi's New Island I was disappointed to see they had changed to 3D sprites, which I think fails to convey the series' artstyle as well. Still, I'm looking forward to the gameplay which I hope will be as good as ever.
