Over the weekend Atlus held a livestream press conference of sorts where they announced four all new Persona titles, the biggest of which was Persona 5 (see trailer below). Though not much was revealed about the game, it was confirmed that the game would be released on PS3 (remember Persona 4 came out on the PS2 in 2008) and that it would release in Japan Winter of 2014. I pray that the international release will happen around the same time, but we probably won't be seeing this game state side till 2015.
Although Persona 5 was the announcement everyone expected, Atlus also revealed three other interesting, very strange Persona titles. One was an update to the arcade version of Persona 4 Arena in Japan. Some new characters, including some Persona 3 cast memebers, have been added to the game so hopefully we will see these additions as DLC to the console games here in America.
The second was an all new Persona spin off called Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth which features chibi style characters from Persona 3 and 4 in what appears to be a dungeon crawler. Oh yeah, and its on the 3DS! Its not surprising that the Persona series is moving to new platforms (Persona 4 Arena was on Xbox 360) so lets hope this 3DS game does well and encourages Atlus to spread the Persona love.
The final announcement was a Vita rhythm dancing gaming called Persona 4 Dancing All Night. The trailer featured members of the Persona 4 cast, including Rise and Hero, dancing to Persona series music while the player hits timed button prompts. This was probably the most unexpected announcement, but given the high quality of the Persona series' music (I want to dance to Shadow World!) I say bring it on!
