We did it, people. We have arrived. With Microsoft's launch of the Xbox One today, Next Gen officially became This Gen across the board. Sony's PlayStation 4 is weathering its launch very, very well with less than a 1% fail rate on their machines (those are actually superb numbers for anybody on the manufacturing side of things). And there are even people reading the arguments on both sides and then going out and buying a Nintendo Wii U. Man it feels good to be a gamer.
What are you playing this weekend?

I'll definitely be picking up The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and playing through that this weekend along with the Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games for an upcoming review. Since I work in retail, next week is going to be very hectic for me as Black Friday approaches, so I'm going to try and get in as much as I can this weekend.

Hurray! XBONE is here! I will be so excited for it's release and will spend it by playing...exactly what I've been playing the last week and a half: World of Tanks Beta on the Xbox 360 and going back to finish up Far Cry 3 because it's been way too long and I need to beat that game. Actually, I do have something new to play. I'm diving head first into Need for Speed: Rivals on 360. The last real good racing game that I played thoroughly was Burnout Paradise, and this game is just as fun and a big adrenaline rush. Enjoying it very much.

The wait is finally over and Xbox One is here! Happy new generation of gaming, everyone! I picked up an Xbox One with Dead Rising 3, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and I bought Killer Instinct as well. I have spent a little time with Call of Duty: Ghosts, which is pretty fun. I haven't played too much, but for those wondering, it's pretty much the Call of Duty you've known for a while. After 18 long years, I can't believe I am playing a brand new Killer Instinct game and I am happy to say it's amazing. It's fast, fun, and looks absolutely gorgeous on the Xbox One. I can't wait to get some more practice in with this.

I'm still thoroughly enjoying The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario 3D World, so I'll be playing both this weekend. However, when I heard Games for Windows - Live had finally met its long-overdue death, I had to start up BioShock 2 again. Free of the Windows Live shackles, it's even better. Say what you will, but I still consider it the best game in the BioShock series and an excellent sequel. Too bad it gets so much flack from a lot of people who probably never played it.

I currently have a stack of next generation games that is asking, nay, demanding to be played...and played they will be this weekend. There's FIFA 14, Madden 25, Need For Speed: Rivals, Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Contrast, and Resogun. I'm also expecting copies of Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza 5, and Dead Rising 3 to show up by Saturday so it's going to be a smorgasbord of games this weekend.

I snagged 1999's King of Dragon Pass on GOG.com's Fall Insomnia Sale, and, hooo boy, I was not prepared for this much strategy and adventure in a strategy-adventure game. It's like the most Chess-minded choose-your-own-adventure book I've ever stepped into. So many branching Big Huge Decisions to make for my Nordic tribe's survival, and so many what-the-heck scenarios in the land of the gods when I go adventuring. EVE Online: Rubicon lifted off the flight deck, and I'm working toward level 3 (of 5) mastery of exploration frigates in the overhauled skill certification system. I'm also M.C. Escher-ing my way through The Bridge. Puzzle games go much faster with the wife sitting next to me on the couch. Having a second set of eyes on the screen is invaluable for solving my way around this impossible, sketched-out architecture. Also, she's smarter than me.

With today's delivery of the Xbox One, I will be spending some time with Forza 5, while my kids and I together will be playing Zoo Tycoon. However, I also received in a couple of really nice A/V products from Kicker and OSD that I will also be reviewing. Finally, I will be able to take a step back to last gen, and spend some more time with the Skylanders SWAP Force expansion packs that recently came out. Overall, a full weekend of fun that will actually begin with the swapping of three different consoles and TVs and a rewiring job for the ages.

I'll be picking up The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds today, and when I can tear myself away from that, I'll be finishing up a game for review and beating the Origins levels in Rayman Legends.

I'll be enjoying my new 3DS XL, along with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. I've got a few reviews in the pipe as well. There’s Senran Kagura Burst, Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!, and a few others. And now that a local arcade has upgraded their Beatmania IIDX machine to the the latest version, SPADA, I'll be wasting more money there and slacking on reviews more than ever!

I finished my current review game last night, caught up on homework, and am now preparing for a weekend packed with Nintendo goodness. I'm going to wade through the sea of Xbox One hopefuls at my local Walmart to snag a copy of Super Mario 3D World and play it all night. Tomorrow I'll head to my local used game store to trade in my 3DS towards the new Zelda XL (and a physical copy of A Link Between Worlds -- down with the digital overlords!) because I'm a slave to all things Zelda. I imagine both of these games are about 20 hours long, so this could be the first weekend in awhile that I'm totally okay not playing Dota 2. But maybe that's just crazy talk.
