Ahead of the PlayStation 4 launch on Friday, Sony has released a new smartphone app that allows you to see if your friends are online and what they are playing, compare trophies, browse and purchase games, and access content from the PlayStation Blog. This app will also allow users to use second screen functionality for games that support it. The application is now available for iOS and Android devices (sorry Windows Phone users).
I played around with the app for a bit last night and while it's nice first try the app is a bit on the slow side and the interface is a bit cumbersome. To add new friends you have to go to Friends, Search for Players, and then send a friends request. It's not bad for the initial attempt and hopefully Sony improves the experience a bit in future versions.
