I'm not a huge fan of horror games but this Gamescom footage from
The Evil Within is pretty impressive. There are a few of the standard tropes of the genre (slow guy with a chainsaw) but does a few new things with them.
What impressed me is that they do a solid job of generating some solid tension throughout the 12 minutes of gameplay footage. I kind of dig how the wound from the games becomes something of a gameplay element as you try to evade the chainsaw wielding maniac. The only downside of the footage is that some of that tension is lost due to the editing of the footage. Be sure to check out John's
