The very busy folks at Ubisoft Montreal have another ace up their sleeve. The team that worked on
Far Cry 3 is now utilizing an in-house graphics engine to introduce one of the prettiest 2-D role-playing games to date. The graphics engine, called UbiArt Framework, was previously used to build
Rayman Origins and
Rayman Legends.
This platforming RPG is called
Child of Light. It follows Aurora who falls ill and is teleported to Lemuria, a magical kingdom where the Black Queen has stolen the Sun, Moon, and Stars. Way to monopolize light, Black Queen. Real jerk move.
Child of Light is inspired by fairy tales and epic poems -- all dialogue is spoken in rhymes, yo -- and styled after turn-based JRPG combat, and also has a
Far Cry 3-inspired skill tree.
You and Aurora must restore light to the land sometime in 2014. It'll be downloadable on PS4, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
