Markus "Notch" Persson's
0x10c is dead, but his fans are resurrecting it as Project Trillek. More than a few folks are getting presidential this week with the sci-fi superhero WTF sandbox in
Saints Row IV. While others are wiping away EA's "Worst Company in America" award as they flip through the ridiculously awesome Humble Origin Bundle.
What are you playing this weekend?

Fresh off of my trip to GenCon, I'll be working on an article that talks about my experiences with three upcoming games in the Might & Magic franchise. Since two of them aren't out yet -- and I could only preview them at GenCon -- I'll be spending a lot of time with the third (and probably my favorite of the three):
Might & Magic: Duel of Champions, an online collectible card game and, well, let's face it, I'm a sucker for CCGs. Beyond that, I might attempt to finish getting the Steam Achievements for
DuckTales: Remastered as I only have a few left to go.

This will be a weekend filled with nonstop fun for me. First, I will be playing more
Saints Row IV. I know some people complain about how this series is completely different from what it used to be, but you know what? I am glad they did so, because I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with an open-world game. I commend Volition for taking a chance and trying something new. It's a game that doesn't take itself seriously at all. It knows what it is: it's just fun. With so many games being serious, trying to be movies, I am happy a game like this is around to remind everyone what video games should be. Fun. Now, read that again, and every time I said "fun," take a shot. On a side note, I just don't understand some gamers. Some of you complain that
Call of Duty and other franchises are the same year after year and that you want change. Then a game comes along that gives you that change, yet you still complain? So what do you want? Change or something new? Make up your minds, please. Moving on, I had to wait an extra week, but I am sure the wait will be worth it as I will be downloading the digital version of
Payday 2 for Xbox LIVE. I loved the first
Payday and I have heard nothing but good things about
Payday 2. Pulling off heists with your friends online? Sign me up.

I'll be firing up the Wii U for more
Earthbound. I also need to dig into the demo for
The Wonderful 101, which keeps looking crazier and better as the days to release count down. I have a feeling my Wii U will be getting a lot more use in the coming months.

It will be a portable weekend for me as I dig myself further into the shady world of mercenaries with the
Killzone: Mercenary beta on the Vita. I will also finally dive into the world of
The Walking Dead now that it has gone portable. If I see anyone roaming the streets of Steelport on the 360, I might have to join them, as you can never get enough of the Saints (especially now that they have superpowers).

This weekend will be dominated by
Saints Row IV. I'm trying to justify purchasing
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, but the pull of the Saints is just too much. I'll be logging a few more hours with
MechWarrior Online and playing
NHL 2013:
Beer League Edition, as I play in the
Hockey Beats Down Cancer tournament here in Columbus, Ohio.

Oh
Organ Trail, you crazy. Chuck died from a stray bullet, a zombie bit John, Cyril ate it during a hostage sitch, and Jeremy caught every disease that vaccinations should've already cured in the 20th century. I'm going to play
The Sims 3 with my three-year-old, instead. She's already assigned her Sim dad's traits: he's apparently a bookworm-ish, hamburger-loving, absent-minded couch potato. Sigh.
