I will admit that I haven't been that excited for
Call of Duty: Ghosts, mostly because I am not really interested in the single player experiences in these games. For me, it's all about the Multiplayer, and today, Activision pulled back the curtain on the multiplayer and it looks pretty amazing.
The first thing we got to see is the new character customization in the game. Call of Duty: Ghosts now allows you to customize your player and yes, for the first time in Call of Duty multiplayer history, you can play as a female character.
Next we were shown some of the updates to perks, killstreaks and load outs. The game includes more than 20 brand new killstreaks, tons of new guns and perks as well. The pick 10 system somewhat returns from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. All perks have points attached to them. You can have up to eight points in your load out. If you want, you can get rid of your secondary weapon and attachments to give yourself even more points.
We got a look at two brand new multiplayer modes. The first is Cranked. When you get a kill a 30 second countdown starts. If you don't get a kill within those 30 seconds, you explode. Getting kills makes you faster. Search and Rescue plays out the same as Search and Destroy except when you die, you drop a dog tag. If a teammate picks up the tag, you are brought back into the match. If an enemy picks it up, you are done.
Squads mode was shown off which has players creating a squad of ten unique players in which they can take online in team based or versus matches. Your squad, it seems, will be controlled by the AI, so making sure your squad has a variety of different load outs is important. Some new game modes for squads were shows off that include 10 vs 10 squad battles but are 1 v 1 with other human players. The AI controls the other 18 players in the game.
We then got to see a live multiplayer match and they showed off the brand new Cranked game mode. Something interesting about the game mode cranked. When the first person on the map dies, he drops a briefcase called the "field orders". The field orders are objective that need to be completed in order to earn a care package. The field orders can be things from kill an enemy while prone or kill three players while crouched. Cranked looks about as fast paced as it can get and it looks incredibly fun.
The brand new Call of Duty app was shown off and is pretty much an updated version of Call of Duty Elite. If you do have an Elite account then you already have a Call of Duty account. It allows you to track stats, customize load outs, create emblems and has improved clan features.
The seasons pass is coming back. You will get four multiplayer packs at a discounted price and includes an exclusive character as well. Details will be released soon.
Finally the collectors editions were announced. The Hardened Edition will come with the seasons pass, a steel book cover for the game, bonus Free Fall map, and digital bonus content. The Prestige Edition will come with a 1080p tactical camera. I can only imagine how much that is going to cost.
Of course there was much more that was announced and shown off, so check out the
full hour long presentation at their official website.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released on Novemeber 5th.
Oh and one more thing. Notice how they really haven't said anything about the next gen version launching at a later date? With most next gen games they say "Next gen versions coming at launch", but it seems that
Call of Duty is confident in that November 5th release date. Could that be the release date for Xbox One? Since Microsoft and Xbox has exclusivity with
Call of Duty DLC and how much they support the game, I could easily see some launch cross promotion.
How does this sound... PLAY
CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS DAY ONE ON XBOX ONE, NOVEMBER 5TH!!!
