Grand Theft Auto V gameplay footage stole the entire internets this week. The world record speed run for
Half-Life 2 now stands at just under an hour and a half--whereas Chuck Husemann’s playthrough is probably in its fifth week. And some poor sap just lost a ship in
EVE Online that, when calculated out, was worth somewhere between $8,000 and $10,000 in real-world monies.
What are you playing this weekend?

Got a tad behind on getting it started, but I'll be spending a good chunk of my weekend tearing through
Project X Zone. So far I'm enjoying it, especially seeing how different characters from the various Namco, Sega, and Capcom universes work in pairs. Plus, I'll likely continue through
Alpha Protocol, which I haven't had much of a chance to play more of thanks to
Project X Zone.

Summer of Sports begins this week as I'm expecting
NCAA Football 14 (I pray it isn't the last in the series) to arrive, effectively turning all other games into nothing but decoration for the foreseeable future.

This weekend I will most likely be sinking more hours into
Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I honestly had no interest in these games in the past, but after watching my sister play the original on GameCube, I was intrigued. So I took the risk and bought it. Boy, I am glad I did. I cannot believe how addicting this game is. I have been playing every single day since launch and have probably sunk close to 100 hours into it already. The other game I will be playing is
Saints Row The Third. I already played through it once but now I'm playing it again with cheats enabled giving me unlimited cash and unlimited ammo. Pretty much getting myself ready for
Saints Row IV next month and I cannot wait!

I'm getting back into portable gaming recently, and I'm currently hunting down two of Renegade Kid's DS classics:
Dementium: The Ward and
Moon. Both are excellent FPS titles--one survival horror, the other straight-up action--with great stories to boot, but I'm ashamed to say I've never finished either. I borrowed both games from my brother a few years back but at the time I was pretty distracted by college graduation. With some luck, I'll have both of these under-appreciated classics soon and will be thoroughly enjoying them by the time Saturday rolls around.

This weekend will hopefully see
Magrunner wrapped up. It's hard to talk about the game without talking about
Portal as the game lifts so much of it's framework from Valve's classic, but there are lots of cool touches and the use of magnets is done really well. They also do a decent job of keeping the story going and actually introducing some tense, spine-tingling moments here and there. The rest of the weekend will hopefully be spent working on
The Last of Us,
MechWarrior Online, and getting back into
Half-Life 2. I'll also be playing "HOLY CRAP I'M DOING A SPRINT TRIATHLON IN LESS THAN A MONTH AND HAVEN'T STARTED TRAINING YET."

If you've ever applied for a job in real life, then you still have no idea how complicated it can be to apply for corporations like Eve University in
EVE Online. In-game espionage makes recruiters ask a lot of probing questions--and require (non-invasive) access to your character info. One part laziness and two parts "Ain't nobody got time for that!" has stretched my application process out to nearly two weeks. Good times? Also, for a breather, I snagged
Dinner Date off Steam’s summer sale for$0.74. Cheap date, indeed.

I'll be playing whatever games catch my fancy from the Steam summer sale--most likely
Dust: An Elysian Tale or
Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine. And maybe
VVVVVV to back up my indie-nerd cred.

This weekend I'll be finishing off
BioShock 2. I never got around to playing it but I've heard good things.
