Nintendo is jumping into the world of DLC with both feet, it seems.
New Super Luigi U, their gigantic 80-level expansion pack for New Super Mario Bros U, is
now available on the Wii U Eshop for $20. As you might have guessed the expansion plays more like a standalone game and stars the famous red-garbed plumber's more humble brother, along with a second new playable character that
isn't Mario, so Luigi really is getting top billing this time.
This expansion will also be getting a full retail release in August for $30, so you can save 10 bucks now if you get the digital version. Nintendo is also releasing a patch for the original New Super Mario Bros U, bringing it up to date with the new Luigi game and adding support for the Wii U Pro Controller. That's a nice addition, as I always wondered why I could play NSMBU with a Wii Remote but not with Wii U's new traditional pad.
Last but not least, if you buy the digital version of Luigi U and register it to your Club Nintendo account, you'll get
double the coins when you complete the play survey. This will also enter you into a drawing for one of 980 limited edition Luigi pins to commemorate the so-called Year of Luigi. Not a bad deal for such a hefty expansion DLC.
