Sega has been refocusing on their most profitable core properties over the last year and we're going to see that culminate at E3 this week. Their main lineup is as follows: Sonic Lost World, Castle of Illusion, Company of Heroes 2, Total War: ROME II,and The Cave.
Hopefully the new Sonic really shines as I've been waiting for Nintendo and Sega to do a big exclusive partnership like this for a while. I'd prefer that Mario and Sonic ditch the Olympic Games pretext and just star in a huge action platformer crossover, but I suppose that's the old 16-bit fanboy in me talking. Total War is a no brainer, nor is the Genesis Mickey Mouse classic reimagined with Castle of Illusion. It's cool to see Double Fine get some love with The Cave, even though the game has been out for a few months.
I'm not surprised that there's absolutely nothing from Gearbox this year, as there's been some pretty bad blood recently with the Aliens Colonial Marines debacle. Still, I was hoping they'd announce something. Maybe Sega and Randy Pitchford patched things up and have a surprise in store for us. I guess we'll see.
