A few days ago, Jeremy posted a video that, while kind of cryptic in purpose, he hoped it was referring to Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse. Well, Sega and Disney Interactive have confirmed what Jeremy was hoping for: the Sega Genesis classic is getting the re-imagining treatment.
For those unfamiliar with the classic game, Castle of Illusion was first released back in 1990 on the Sega Genesis and was very well received, much like most classic-era Disney games were (specifically referring to the 8 and 16-bit eras here). The game had amazing graphics, solid controls, and some great music. Now, Disney and Sega will be rebuilding the game from the ground up with some great visuals and new gameplay mechanics. Castle of Illusion will be hitting PCs, Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network this summer. Between this and Ducktales, I hope we see a lot more Disney classics get this kind of treatment. Just imagine what Rescue Rangers, Quackshot, or The Magical Quest would be like.
