It's been rumored for a while now, but Square Enix and Eidos have officially made me a very happy fanboy.
Deus Ex Human Revolution, probably my favorite game of the last two years, is getting a special
Director's Cut on the Wii U. Working with Australian developer Straight Right, Eidos has polished and overhauled several aspects of the game to make what they're calling the "ultimate edition," according to what Nintendo Everything has been able
to learn since the
announcement.
Among the improvements they've made to the new version, Eidos mentioned completely updated boss fights that reflect the game's emphasis on choice, rebalanced gameplay for several different play styles, improved graphics they said weren't possible on PS3/360, and the neural hub, a new feature that ties all of Jensen's augmentations together and makes them accessible from the Wii U GamePad. Supposedly the game will also feature off-screen play. It seems like Eidos and Straight Right are fixing the few flaws the game already had, and considering Human Revolution was pretty damn good to begin with, I can't wait to play the director's cut. It's also nice to see a studio so excited about a Wii U port, after the lack of enthusiasm we've seen in the last couple months from EA and other publishers.
There isn't an official release date yet--the rumored May 7th date has since been taken down--but we'll probably find out at PAX next week when they debut a first look at the Wii U version.
