Your favorite criminals Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains are back as they set out to take Washington D.C for all its worth.
Yesterday we brought you the news that Overkill Software officially revealed Payday 2 and today we have for you the first screens, details and a trailer for the game.
The first new major addition to the game is the CRIMENET Network which offers players contracts from convenience store knockoffs, to kidnappings, to huge bank heists. Of course up to four players will be able to play cooperatively to progress from petty thefts to legendary criminals. As the jobs become bigger and you make more money you will also be able to upgrade your character with tons of new customization and crafting features. Throughout CRIMENET you will connect with other local criminals such as Vlad the Ukrainian, "The Elephant" the shady politician and Mexican drug trafficker Hector all with their own agendas and best interest in mine. CRIMENET will feature dozens of exciting jobs. As you progress, new contracts will become available.
Another major addition to the game is the ability to choose a profession. As players progress they can choose any four professions. The enforcer, the ghost, the mastermind and the technician. Each professions carries its own customization tree with specific perks that will help you on missions. Along with perks Payday 2 features tons of ways to customize your character. Masks can now be customized with different colors and materials offering you literally thousands of different ways to customize the look of your character. By finishing heists you can earn new, powerful and rare loot such as new masks, weapons, and mods. You can customize your guns in tons of different ways including optics, suppressors, fore grips, reticles, barrels, frames and stocks all affecting the performance of the weapon and offering you thousands of ways to make your character truly unique from everyone else.
Heists have also be given tons of different additions as well such as "mission assets". Every mission has a set of purchasable assets that can alter and enhance each heist such as faster escape cars, blueprints and inside help. Heists also can now have multiple objectives to complete offering several separate stages of each heist offering different outcomes depending on what you have accomplished. Finally to ensure that heists will never play out the same way twice and AI director has been added to the game changing various aspects of the heist through each gameplay session. In one mission where you have to steal a tiara from a jewelry store the tiara could be in different locations each time. Enemies will also devise strategies based on how you and your team is playing.
No official release date has been announced yet but you can expect Payday 2 during Summer 2013 for PS3, Xbox and PC. Sounds like a Summer of Arcade game to me.
Finally we have the first trailer and screenshots below complete with The Dark Knight references.
