We have pretty much known for a long, long time that Blizzard’s
Diablo 3 was coming to consoles in some form or another. After last week’s Sony press conference in New York, we now have a better idea of how and when it is coming. Diablo 3 has been officially announced as coming to both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4.
Blizzard took the stage at the event and assured fans that they weren’t just porting the game over to the new platforms but working to ensure that it maintained the integrity and quality of the original PC release. The console version will feature all of the upgrades and improvements that have been made to the PC version since its launch and its interface, controls, and camera are being completely redesigned to better suit the new platform(s). A few screenshots trickled out after the official unveil, which you can find below, and the full reveal is currently scheduled to occur at the upcoming PAX East event in Boston.
I think that our EIC, Charles Husemann, summed up the response best in a recent
Twitter post; this announcement doesn’t seem too exciting at first, but once you realize that it means you will soon be playing Diablo 3 via your Vita while chilling in your bed or on the couch, it becomes a little more impressive. count me in!
