13 years. That's how long Sony's been shipping
PlayStation 2 consoles to Japan. March 4, 2000 was the date that started it all for the console. Famitsu, a Japanese video game magazine, is reporting that Japan has seen the last of the PlayStation 2 shipments
Polygon writes.
That's like an eternity in video game years and it's amazing how long Sony's been pumping out one of the best selling consoles of all time. We're talking over 150 million units sold with over 22 million in Japan. I still have my original PlayStation 2 bought on March 4 of 2000 with the hard drive attachment. If I didn't have a PlayStation 3 with backwards compatibility, I'd fire up the ole console as a tribute.
