To celebrate IGN nominating
Hotline Miami for Game of the Year, the folks behind the game have
slashed the price of the game down to $4.99 through end of day tomorrow. This is a chance to get one of the better (and more violent) games of the year for less than a grande something or other at Starbucks. Our own Sean Colleli loved the game when he
previewed it earlier this year so this might be the best $5 you spend all year.
Dennaton’s Hotline Miami Nominated for IGN’s Game of the Mother#!$@ing Year
- Official recognition that this game is totally *!^&king rad, on sale tomorrow on Steam for $5 bucks -
THE TENDERLOIN – Top-down-gory-8-bit-indy-wonder Hotline Miami was presented with an IGN.com “Game of the Year” nomination today during the live event at IGN headquarters. While this would normally not comprise the need for a full media alert if it were Call of Honor: Cover and Shoot VI from Big Bloated Publishing, the handsome lads at Devolver Digital and Dennaton Games are pretty damn proud of the recognition and wanted to share it with you since you’re not here shooting flaming cockroaches at the bar with the team in celebration.
Known for smaller, experimental titles, developers Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin (Dennaton Games) made their first waves in the commercial market with the brutally violent Hotline Miami. Delivered to fans in October of this year, the PC shooter has received universal review praise from the media, except for some dudes in Russia. And now, the IGN.com GOTY nominee is on sale tomorrow on Steam for just $5 bucks http://store.steampowered.com/app/219150/.
“We’re definitely happy with the reception of Hotline Miami,” said Jonatan Söderström. “Our fans have stayed with us as we have transitioned into longer, more in-depth games and we are so grateful to them. We are looking forward to building on the success of Hotline Miami for future projects.”
“Hotline Miami and Dennaton champion everything Devolver Digital loves in video games: It’s artistic, it’s fun, and it was made purely with creativity in mind,” said Graeme “Fancy Lad” Struthers at Devolver Digital. “That it has found success in the commercial market is a testament to the fact that fans really do appreciate the sense of style and artistic expression that smaller developers can bring to a video game. We definitely look forward to seeing what Dennaton Games has lined up next and can’t wait to work with them again.”
Hotline Miami is a high-octane action game overflowing with raw brutality, hard-boiled gunplay and skull crushing close combat. Set in an alternative 1989 Miami, you will assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine. Soon you'll find yourself struggling to get a grip of what is going on and why you are prone to these acts of violence.
“Hotline Miami is the best thing to come out of Sweden since ever,” said Fork Parker, Chief Financial Officer at Devolver Digital. “To clarify, I have no knowledge of the primary exports of Sweden but have to assume they suck when compared to the sheer awesome of this wild ass game.”
Hotline Miami is available now for PC via Steam, GetGames, Amazon, GOG and more. Keep up with the sensation on Twitter @HotlineMiami.
