What if the human race was taken out of the equation? I don’t mean in terms of “never existing”, but what if humanity was wiped off the Earth and the world was left to the animals? The development studios at PlayStation CAMP and Crispy’s are aiming to answer that very question with the upcoming Tokyo Jungle for the PlayStation Network.
Set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, the game envisions a world where the animals are fighting for their lives to establish a new order in nature’s food chain. Players will take control of one of more than 50 animals in an attempt to take their place atop the new carnal-world order. The choices of animals vary greatly; you will be able to take control of dogs, cats, monkeys, giraffes, cows, horses, lions, hyaenas, pigs, and even chickens. Each type of animal has their own skills and strategies that you need to master in order to preserve their existence in the new world.
Judging from the trailer for the game shown below, it looks like an interesting mix of action and strategy. You will have to adapt to your new surroundings, establish your position in the hierarchy, hunt and prey, and form your own packs. To say that this looks interesting would be an understatement; I am very curious about this game.
Tokyo Jungle will be available on the PlayStation Network on September 25, 2012 for $14.99.
